Spotlight on Crate Paper Pretty Party

I've popped back in to share some cards using the Crate Paper Pretty Party line of products.  I don't normally use a lot of chipboard on my cards but it sure does make a lot of quick cards!  I used the chipboard shapes, the border stickers, the phrase stickers and the 6 x 6 paper pad.  There were a lot more cards but my friend took some off my hands :)

If you are every looking for inspiration for a particular line of products you should check out the blog of the manufacturer.  The Crate Paper blog is here and that is where I got the inspiration for the middle card in the second photo. There are a lot of beautiful projects there and sneak peeks of upcoming releases.

I think I'll try this with the Story Teller line from Crate very soon.  Enjoy the rest of your day!

New in store - Card Design Handbook

I love Papercrafts Magazine - the US edition! I really, really love the special editions that come out regularly.  This one - Card Design Handbook, contains 173 tips to design like a pro which includes the rule of thirds, quiet space, focal point, colour, balance & movement.  Not only that it contains lots of beautiful, inspirational photographs of cards to illustrate each point - the eye candy is fantastic :)

You can purchase it from my store here.

You can read more about this special edition at Moxie Fab World and Papercrafts connection.

Enjoy your weekend!

Hey there it's Studio Calico Heyday!

I just wanted to post a card I made using some Studio Calico products yesterday.  For a change of scene I misted this stamp (starburst - from Studio Calico/Hero arts) using Mister Huey's from Studio Calico.  I left the stamp facing upwards, misted lightly and then placed my white cardstock face down and used a brayer to gently rub the card so all the colour was absorbed.

I stamped my sentiment from Heyday sentiments (coming soon) in black memento ink and then went about matting my card and adding some drops from the mister hueys.  Lastly I added a two butterfly die cuts made from the Studio Calico heyday paper pad and added some black rhinestones as well.

You can find the stamp Starburst here and the paper pad here in store.  I also have mister huey's in stock in many different colours.

Have a great week!

Craft Room Re-arranging

A few months ago I decided my craft room was no longer working for me and did some re-arranging.  I also aquired some furniture that wasn't being used in the rest of the house and put it to work.  My previous arrangement was one desk with a table next to it but it was so crowded and the laptop had to be put away all the time.

This is the new room, as you walk in the room straight in front is a desk back to back with two tables in the middle of the room.  The two tables house my sewing machine, radio, laptop and silhouette cameo.  The desk has my copics & refills, stickers, buttons, ephemera, caddy for scissors etc and another caddy for sprays, paints, stickles, twine, embossing powder etc.

I have an Alex drawer from Ikea next to my desk which has my bigshot & trimmer on the top.  In the drawers I have punches & ink, christmas, paper pads, dies and embossing folders, cardstock and more bits and bobs.  Behind the desk I have a Making Memories shelf with wood mounted stamps, clear stamps, ribbon and washi tape.  That is not all my stamps, under the desk I have two binders full of cling mounted! OMG that is a lot of stamps :)

The other part of the room has a small console table I use for packing shop orders and above that is a CD shelf I store all my magazines and idea books on as well as small scalloped doodlebug shelf for pretty things. The sleeping dog under the table is optional!

Of course it never normally looks this clean, neat & tidy, most days you can't see the white of the desk at all!  I just completely cleaned it up yesterday for the photo's ;)
